CBT & Skill Test Overview

What to expect on exam day — the general shape of the test, not the official rulebook. Confirm exact format details with HRD Korea before your exam.

Language Exam

The CBT Format

Listening

Short and long dialogues reflecting real workplace situations — a supervisor's instruction, a safety warning, a coworker's question.

Reading

Short passages, signs, and fill-in-the-blank sentences focused on practical, work-related Korean.

The exam is fully computer-based (CBT) and multiple-choice. Exact question counts, timing, and passing scores are set by HRD Korea and can change between rounds.

The Skill Test

  • The Skill Test is a practical, hands-on evaluation used for certain sectors — commonly agriculture/livestock and fishing, and in some rounds, manufacturing and construction.
  • It's assessed separately from the CBT language exam and evaluates job-relevant physical or technical ability, not Korean language skill.
  • Not every candidate needs a Skill Test — whether it applies depends on the sector and the specific application round's requirements.
  • Exact evaluation criteria and scoring are set by HRD Korea and the relevant sector authority, and can change between rounds.
